Dmitry Gromov was born on Marth 30th, 1963 in Simferopol. He moved to Sevastopol in 1969 and in 1974 to Kharkov, where he has been living since then. He finished secondary school in 1980, and then he entered Kharkiv Polytechnical Institute. He graduated from the institute in 1986 and worked as chemistry engineer. In 1991 he turned his attention to literary activities. He married in 1989 and has a son. His Hobbies include: "hard rock" music, in particular the group "Deep Purple", about work of which Dmitry Gromov wrote and published a monograph; an actor in the theater-studio "Pelican", where he played lots of roles, most of them are the leading ones.
