L. P. Melling is a writer and musician of Italian/Irish descent. He has loved music and the written word for as long as he can remember. He also loves travelling, rambling, wildlife, and squash. He mainly writes speculative fiction but also dabbles with literary fiction. His music tastes are as wide and varied as his reading tastes.
The first short story he wrote won a writing competition ran by his Russell Group university. He has since been a finalist for the Writers of the Future contest and a winner of the Solarpunk Magazine and Flame Tree Press Newsletter contests. His short fiction has been published or is forthcoming in a variety of diverse places, such as the Best of British Science Fiction and Best Indie Speculative Fiction, with a full list on the home page.
He previously did some proofreading for Sci Phi Journal and first reading for Cosmic Roots and Eldritch Shores.
When not writing, reading, or editing to music, he works for a charity that advises and supports victims of crime.
